Craving a sweet treat? This recipe is perfect for you. Apple crumble is one of the simplest things to make and is one of my absolute favourite desserts. It is best, eaten when warm with a dollop of vanilla ice cream, but is divine in just about any other form.
Ingredients
For the apples:
2 apples
1 tsp cinnamon powder
1/4 cup loosely packed brown sugar
For the crumble:
3/4 cup all-purpose flour (feel free to use any other alternative. eg. whole wheat flour)
3/4 cup rolled oats
1 tbsp sugar
a pinch of salt
75g butter (preferably cold, but can be room temperature)
Serves: 6-8 depending on the size of the serving
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Method:
1. Preheat the oven to 180 C.
2. Dice the apples, removing the core and seeds as you proceed.
3. Add the cinnamon and brown sugar and mix thoroughly till the apples are fully coated.
4. In a separate bowl mix the flour, oats, sugar, and salt.
5. Add the butter, and using your fingers, incorporate it slowly into the dry ingredients until it forms a crumble.
6. Layer the crumble over the apples in a baking dish.
7. Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
8. Enjoy!
