While 2021 was a step up from 2020, it definitely doesn’t qualify as a good year. Yet. So lighten up because there are some super exciting things lined up for this year that hopefully succeed in turning it around for us!

2. Dubai 2020 Expo- Dubai Expo 2020 is the world's largest meeting place for investors, diplomats, nations, multilateral organisations, businesses, and educational institutions and offers many opportunities such as networking and promoting international relationships. It aims to increase awareness about the challenges faced by humanity on a global scale. This year will see the participation of 192 countries that have the opportunity to display their cultures and technological inventions. There will be live performances, flashmobs, pop-up theatres, parades, and a wide array of dishes in more than 200 food and beverage outlets!
3. Television- This year is going to be very exciting when it comes to upcoming films and television. There has already been the F.R.I.E.N.D.S reunion, To All The Boys: 3, Cruella, Loki, Wandavision, etc, but there is still more to come!
¨ Black Widow- Originally scheduled to come in may 2020, is finally being released in theatres on July ninth! This film is set after Captain America: Civil War and is the first film in phase 4 of the MCU. Starring Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, O-T Fagbenle, and more this film will explore the past of Black Widow.
¨ No Time To Die- The 25th James bond film is coming on 30th September! Daniel Craig is coming back for the last time to portray the infamous spy and once again save the world.
¨ Kissing Booth 3- The third and final film of the kissing booth series will be coming to Netflix on the 11th of august this year! While we’re all sorry to have to say goodbye, I’m sure none of us can wait to see Elle go to college.
¨ Spiderman 3: No Way Home- Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon are coming back for spider man 3 taking place after spiderman: far from home, which ends on a cliffhanger with Mysterio revealing Spiderman’s identity to the entire world. We will see Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange and possibly Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
4. Music: It’s not just movies. 2021 is a great year for music too.
¨ Red (Taylor’s Version)- I don’t think I can describe in words how thrilled I am for the release of Red (Taylor’s Version). The album Red, first released on 22nd October 2012 was Taylor swift's 4th album, consisting of 16 songs. It includes hits like 22, I Knew You Were Trouble, We Are Never Getting Back Together, and more. If you stan this album then get ready to fall in love with it all again because Red (Taylor’s Version) is coming on 19th November 2021 and will include previously unreleased songs as well as the original 10-minute long version of All Too Well!
¨ Montero- Lil Nas X is releasing his first album called Montero this summer! He has already released 2 hit singles from this album, namely Montero (Call Me By Your Name) and Sun Goes Down, and I can hardly wait for the whole album to drop.
¨ Happier Than Ever- All the Billie Eilish fans out there, get excited because this 19-year-old singer drops her second album, Happier Than Ever, on the 30th of July! 4 singles from this album have already been released including Therefore I Am, Lost Cause, Your Power and My Future of which 3 made it to the top 10 of the Us billboard hot 100.
¨ Utopia- Travis Scott is bringing us his fourth album following astroworld this year!
5. James Webb Telescope- The James Webb telescope, sometimes called the successor of the Hubble telescope, is set to launch on an Ariane 5 rocket from French Guiana in 2021. The Webb telescope will help us study the infrared universe that is largely invisible to humans. It will study every phase in the history of our Universe, ranging from the first luminous glows after the Big Bang, to the formation of solar systems capable of supporting life on planets like Earth, to the evolution of our own Solar System. This could lead to amazing discoveries about our universe.
6. Brood X- Brood X is the largest of the 12 broods of cicada that emerge once every 17 years. And one such year is 2021. While the emergence of underground insects is not something to be particularly excited about, it’s quite remarkable that the last time these insects came above ground was 2004, the year the last episode of Friends was aired, and Facebook existed only in Harvard. These cicadas are predicted to be found in the American states of Pennsylvania, Northern Virginia, Indiana, and Eastern Tennessee and are quite harmless.
